Some legal stuff
Pixl8r is a new open protocol launched by Ericsson. It solves the limitation of walled gardens by federating mobile user generated content communities into a global mesh.
Say what?
It works like this. Operator A and Operator B both launch a mobile photo sharing service for their users. By implementing pixl8r, users in each service can establish friendship across borders and subscribe to their friends irrespective of which operator they choose to call home.
How did you do that?
Pixl8r fuses the best of Telecom and Web protocols into a simple but globally scalable model.
From the telecom toolkit,we use the SIP subscribe/notify and DNS resolution technologies developed for IMS. This interconnects all operator domains into a democratic federation without the need for a central policy server.
From the Web site we use RESTful protocols to allow authenticated transfer of browser sessions between domains.
How do I get it?
